What a "Man"

Here are two ads out of five from this Viagra campaign. To be honest i didn't like the rest to post. These two i chose, cause i find them the best they did (for different reasons). I'll start with the first one... it's kind of disgusting i guess for some ladies out there ;-) But i find the exaggeration of gold-wear on his hands really funny.
Now about the second one, I'll say that it's simply showing (in a great way) What this "man" has achieved. What I am not sure about, is how he achieved it... was is just because he was a "real man" or because he had a woman manager that he used to please alot? :-) The styling on both ads, remind me much of the 80's and because i believe that the 80's were the most "tawdry" time of all (kitch), i think its even more funny. The phones used for example, cannot have been done cause of bad art direction... It's obvious its done in purpose. :-) I even love the bad tasting curtains and pen holder! The trick in these ads is to get your attention in a humorous way, and it sure got mine. Copy says: "meet the cure"... well if the cure is to end up like this guy, no thanks ;-)

sorry to be so blunt, but I think you have COMPLETELY missed the point of these ads!
They point out to the PROBLEM!!! Not the solution! They point out all of the stuff a man does to fill the gap of inadequacy due to lack of 'performance'... gold watches, flashy cars, high sounding titles at the job... anything and everything that to yourself and to others you project success...
yet for this problem, 'meet the cure' is the small pill, viagra... Nothing beats a feeling of inadequacy like a good 'performing' organ, i guess!
I hope I haven't offended you or anything! I believe the ads are great for this objective, but maybe in too roundabout a fashion, as someone as used to seeing advertising didn't get it at first go! Hence, they may even be weak ads.
No need to be sorry for your comment, after all that's why they are here for. It is always better talking it out as I could easily make a mistake ;-) I believe you are right in the way of seeing it. If I think better about the line "meet the cure" it leads me where you are. And I start wondering now why I didn't see it that way also. I should pay more attention and see it is made in Finland, as I tried to explain it in an old fashioned Balcan way. It used to be a cool folk way to look in the older days,(plus the golden tooth), so I thought that was the joke. I never thought a man would try to succeed looking like that way in our days. The 80's style gave an emphasis to my thoughts. But I still believe looking at it as a solution and not as a problem makes it more funny (but probably not aimed correctly).
Thanks for your comment and no, I am not offended. Please keep around :-) Cheers.
