With a little help from my friends...




This campaign was made by TBWA in China for adidas, an official supporter for the 2008 Olympic games that will take place in Beijing. The copy translated in English reads: "With a little help from the fans". The ads here show four different Olympic sports supported from the sports-fans and looking like they are giving a helping hand to the athletes. What they really want to say I believe, is that the fans have really got into this, enjoying it as much as if they were taking place in the games themselves. The art direction is very interesting and comes out very artistic, with the combination of photography and illustrations together. It really looks like "China"... specially with all that large population shown in them! But still comes out very delicate, with the use of this technique and choice of colours.

Growing nails

This ad was made in China for GITI tyres. The visual shows a nail transformed into some sort of shallot. That's how a nail seems for a GITI tyre GT688. It wants to communicate that the tyre cannot be drilled. The copy reads: "Anti-puncture Tire". Sure looks different.

"Big bird" is coming


Ogilvy & Mather in China came up with this campaign for the new Airbus flights there. I love these illustrations, that I believe are very well made and colored, with an oriental stroke in them. I can't really explain why, but it gives me a dreamland vision, turning me several years back when I was flying as a kid with Qantas Airlines... the color books they were giving away to kids looked very similar to these :-) The copy claims: "The Airbus 380. Flying soon." And the concept is based on imagining a very big bird. Probably much bigger than Sesame's street "big bird" ;-)

Eyeball in my Martini?

This here is a Teaser ad made in Hong Kong. What impressed me mostly here, is not the idea, but the great photography, that grabs your attention at once. The copy reads: " Keep your eyes open for the new and renovated Miramar Shopping Centre for this season's holidays. Come over to experience the most new, the most stylish and the most sophisticated face of shopping in Tsim Sha Tsui." Nice!

King of the Jungle

Jeep has made us familiar with their simple and straight ads... This is also one of them, made in China. All it means is written with two words "go inside" and i think it's easy to guess that it's a Lion. The lord of the jungle has been used plenty of times in ads (uncountable), But i think this time it has been done correctly. Ok i know photoshoping does not look perfect, but that's not the point (the concept is), or maybe again it's done in purpose for that door-handle to stand out . ;-)

All the small things


Chinese ad campaign for Fenbid, it's all about a "joint" pain killer... I think what it's trying to say is, that even small kind of jobs can be painful (probably when you already hurt)... I like these sort of visuals and i recon the message is clear enough, but they could use some copy, instead of only the box and the site address (maybe).

Who’s Next?





Every year 50.000 species disappear from our planet, that has as a result 7 million hectares of land turning into desert and 17 million people die from environmental degradation. So there is a direct relationship between the mass extinction of other species and the human activity. This printed ad was wrapped around columns at the entrance and exit of the Guangzhou east subway station in Beijing. When the two ends of evolution meet, it becomes clear where the gun is pointing too and what it means. I have seen many ads using the same visual, it has become already very common, but the idea of it fixed around a column, looks like it is unique.
The Chinese copy reads: “Every year because of man, 50.000 species become extinct. To help go to www.ifaw.org”
